The photo above depicts a statue of Jesus Christ located in the highest point of Saipan called Mt. Tapochau. A statue of Jesus Christ was placed in Mt. Tapochau in order to demonstrate how Jesus Christ is always watching over or protecting the island. Furthermore, several islanders made it a tradition to hike up at the top of Mt. Tapochau every Good Friday in order to commemorate the day Jesus Christ walked his path to crucifixion. The statue of Jesus Christ eventually has become a symbol of hope and security for the people of Saipan. This is significant as the island of Saipan has gone through a series of natural disasters, but was always able to rebuild a stronger community with the guidance of Jesus Christ.
