Have you ever wondered why leaves are green? Also, did you ever wonder why some leaves are not green? To answer these interesting questions, we would have to delve into the science of what gives leaves its colors. Scientifically speaking, the color of the leaves are given off by a “molecule called pigment.” This pigment contains chlorophyll which gives off its green color as it is produced in large amounts during warm and sunny springs and summers. On the other hand, as the cold autumn approaches, chlorophyll is broken down into pieces instead of being synthesized, giving another coat of color to the leaves other than green as the new season welcomes us with their new outfit.
