Saipan, a hidden paradise located in the Pacific Ocean, is an island filled with thousands of hibiscus flowers. The hibiscus plant, also known as the “rose mallow”, produces a variety of more than 200 different flowers ranging from the colors of red, pink, and sometimes orange. These floral gems grow in warm and tropical regions making Saipan an ideal habitual location. Furthermore, hibiscus flowers were and are often utilized to produce natural dyes for both cosmetic and culinary purposes. Additionally, the focal flowers were also used to establish a woman’s social ranking, in which a woman wears the flower behind her right ear to present herself to be single and on the left ear to declare herself to be married. In summary, the hibiscus plant is an exquisite piece of greenery that brings more beauty and culture to its home.
