After the disastrous super-typhoons that wrecked Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the little community was left without power for the better part of a month. Islanders had to resort back to candles for lights and collecting water for fundamental needs in the absence of electricity. When visiting the CNMI, one can still see the remnants of damage left behind by these natural disasters. FEMA tents are still in prevalent use as much of the island still has not fully recovered from this unavoidable travesty. However, the islands are still taking it one step at a time in the recovery process.
