Do not Judge a Book By Its Cover

Christy Lee

Ugh, this book looks so boring and plain. Often times, one might go to the bookstore and say this phrase as they pass by a shelf of books. Although it is essentially true that the cover of the book is crucial for it gives the first impression of the book, it wouldn’t be fair for some of the interesting books to be ignored just because of their boring cover. This book entitled 1984 is a very deep and fascinating book that illustrates the life of Winston Smith under the control of the oppressive, totalitarian government, the Party. In this dystopian community that is built on the foundation of hatred, readers are able to look at the history and the modern society from all kinds of perspectives. Just like how the pictures below were taken from different angles, one can view several ideas presented by Orwell to mean so many different things. Regardless of how boring the cover of this book is, one cannot stop reading this book if they have already started. So, let’s not judge a book by its cover, but by its content.
