Negative Space.

Claude Aquino

Negative space– one of the most basic photo compositions. The idea behind using this composition stems from having a heavy focus on the subject completely. Having negative space in the background of the main object makes it so that the “negativity” of the picture is showing the “positivity”, the main object of the picture. The water bottle above is a dark blue that contrasts heavily with the beige/orange background: subsequently creating a “bursting of contrast” effect on the main object. Using this composition is useful in encapsulating a particular focus with the background of the object, considering its heavy contrast to it.
