Rule of Odds – LJV

Printers have been used to great effect in human society and technological development. For millennia after the development of literature by the classical civilizations of Sumeria and Egypt, literature was a luxury accessible only to the very wealthy. This was the case due to the fact that copying books was a laborious, time-extensive task and books became ultra-expensive as a result. Consequently, much of the greatest literature known to mankind was actually only known by a small subset of the population, and expansive instructive texts that could have been used to uplift the masses were in fact denied to them. The development of the printing press by Johann Gutenberg in the 16th century changed this. After the printing press’s development, large volumes of text became more accessible and less expensive, playing an integral role in the development of popular society and culture. After the development of the computer printer, suddenly electronic information could be transformed into physical form, further revolutionizing the information revolution to be accessible to people that as of yet do not have access to either internet or electricity.
